Company Ownership
Rvvup is required to collect, verify, and maintain information on a company’s owners — known as “beneficial owners” or “persons of significant control”.
To be eligible for a Rvvup account your company must be registered in the UK and its details must be available via the UK Company Register, Companies House.
If your business and beneficial ownership and/or persons of significant control information is available in full and is entirely based in the UK, there is no action needed.
If your beneficial ownership and/or person with significant control is a company or individual based in a country that is not the UK, Rvvup will contact you during your application to ensure we hold the correct information about your business.
If your business information cannot be found on Companies House, or the information on Companies House appears incomplete or incorrect, Rvvup will contact you during your application. Rvvup will be unable to complete your application and set up your account until the information at Companies House is complete and correct. This may require you to contact Companies House and update your information.
Rvvup is required to understand who the natural person that owns your business is. If your business is owned by a legal entity rather than an individual, Rvvup will attempt to identify the individuals who own that company as well. If this is not possible for any reason (such as being registered overseas and not at Companies House) Rvvup will contact you during your application to request information on your ownership structure.
What is a beneficial owner?
The exact definition of a beneficial owner varies by country. Rvvup uses the following definition when talking about beneficial owners.
A beneficial owner is:
- an individual who owns 25% or more of your company (by share capital) and/or
- Individuals who exercise significant control over your company such as:
- CEO, CFO, COO, Managing directors, President etc.
Directors
A director is typically a member of your companies governing board of directors. These individuals must be named and listed at Companies House.
